New 'outside room' for an architect designed house
This detached home had no defined garden area, only a rough area of gravel and a large overgrown slope with some mature trees. The clients did not have time to maintain the area properly so wanted a low maintenance solution incorporating a patio or terrace for eating and entertaining.
The solution included a low timber wall built from sleepers and specially commissioned galvanised steel brackets. The wall formed a clear boundary between the new terrace and the bank beyond and also serves as informal seating around the edge of the terrace.
The terrace is also screened from the main road by a trellis constructed from timber posts and galvanised steel mesh. A terrace itself was created & planting on the bank was largely shade-tolerant species under the canopy of the mature trees.
